This is my favourite time of year. Thanks to the colours, the crisp air and the utter joy that I get from scuffling around in leaves, I’m really happy. It also marks the start of the countdown to Christmas as the summer wardrobe is packed away and the jumpers, fluffy socks and coats all come out to party. Having worn the same clothes for the past few years when it’s cold, I wanted to spruce up my wardrobe a bit with some new pieces that I can wear for many years to come. Those of you who follow me on Instagram (@beccamarriner) will have already seen some of the things I’ve bought but I’ve put together this collective list of some of my favourite finds for the new season.
Autumn in Scotland isn’t necessarily as warm as I would like it to be but I still see some girls that walk around in gorgeous skirts and dresses looking really sophisticated. Despite the nippy temperatures, I wanted to be one of those girls which resulted in me buying this amazing faux-suede dress. I have never owned a bodycon dress before and I was a little scared about trying it on for the first time because I’ve always been a little self-conscious about my body. Thankfully, it was all for nothing because I’m in love with the dress and feel pretty good whilst wearing it. I’ve never really worn orange before because I thought it might clash with my hair but they look great together and what’s a better colour for autumn than orange?
Faux-Suede Dress – SHEIN – £9.99
My Granny always has a Camel Coat in her wardrobe and I’ve decided to take a leaf out of her book and buy one for myself. It is definitely going to be my go-to coat all through Autumn and Winter because it makes me feel chic but without sacrificing any warmth. It’s the kind of coat that means I don’t look like I’m 14 years old, which people often mistake me for being so it’s nice to look my age for a change. I think it’s a really timeless item for any wardrobe, just like a pair of jeans or a white t-shirt but it will outlast most other clothes.
Camel Coat – Boohoo Petite – £60
We all know that it’s a groundbreaking idea to wear florals in Spring (thanks to Miranda Priestly) so I thought to change it up a little and wear a flower printed skirt in Autumn. I bought it last year for my cousin’s wedding and haven’t worn it again until now because I was still trying to find a way to incorporate into a casual outfit. Due to the length of the skirt, it’s warmer than it may appear and is why I think it’s perfect for this time of year and included in this blog post. It’s really nice wearing a floaty skirt to class because even though I’m not quite Cinderella going to the ball, I do feel pretty fancy.

Teddy Bear Jacket
The Teddy Bear style started to come into fashion last Autumn/Winter but this year it’s really taken off. I’ve been wanting to buy one for a while but there are so many styles and colours to choose from that it took me a while to decide on only one. I’m so glad I waited to buy this one because it’s the cosiest jacket you could possibly imagine. The large collar is great for keeping my neck and ears warm when it’s particularly bitter outside. I love that it’s a neutral colour because it matches almost anything I want to wear with it, including accessories.
Teddy Bear Coat – Primark – £20
Every year I will buy a new pair of black boots to trek through the Scottish snow in. and whilst this year is no exception, I have also bought a brown pair to match my new coats. Granted I won’t wear them in the snow like I will with my usual pair but it gives me another option for shoes whether it be a casual or classy look and I’ll never object to looking taller. I love how there are two tones of brown on the boots because I’m still shocked at myself for introducing beige into my wardrobe.
Brown Boots – Primark – £16
All prices are correct at time of writing.
