Kerbside 139: Edinburgh’s Street Food Destination

All of my favourite nights are spent in good company, eating good food and listening to good music. Kerbside 139, the new street food destination of Edinburgh, provides all that and more with a buzzing atmosphere and plenty of space to dance off all the calories that are waiting to be consumed.

Based at the Three Sisters Pub in Edinburgh, Kerbside has a wide variety of food stalls in old shipping containers open to celebrate all different types of cuisines. I went along to the relaunch on Friday the 5th of April to try some of it out for myself and rest assured, you are in for a treat. I’m really can’t wait for the Food Festival on the 21st of April especially as there seems to be a promise of warm, sunny weather.

There are so many different foods on offer including many vegetarian options. JD BBQ are serving ribs, hot dogs and incredible looking burgers. There’s also a variety of wood-fired pizzas, a Mexican stall offering burritos and churros and a fish and chips stand from The Frying Scotsman. There will be even more available this Sunday (21st of April) at their food festival so make sure you head down there to dig in! The Kerbside Facebook page makes promises of “cocktails galore,” so you’ll know where to find me.

“Instagrammable food”

Rebecca and I were strategic and eyed up everybody else’s food before settling on what we were going to eat. It was a tough decision for me between fish and chips and pizza but i went for the pizza because I had been staring at the stand for most of the evening. I had chorizo and peppers on mine and watched as it was freshly prepared and then cooked in a wood-fired oven. I also tried a slice of Rebecca’s haggis, chicken and onion pizza and they were both so delicious.

It was so lovely to sit outside on the benches and chat with my friends as we ate our weight in freshly cooked food. When the tables were then cleared away at around 8:30pm we all stayed and danced to our heart’s content in the Three Sister’s courtyard under the fairy lights. I didn’t even feel the slightest bit guilty for all the food I ate because I danced so much that I definitely needed it to fuel me.

As well as the food on drinks on offer, there is live music all day from a whole line up that was announced on their Facebook page. There are also a few photographers going round to capture all the memories. It was so cool to see a live Instagram feed on the Three Sister’s famous big screen and using the tag #kerbside139 you can be featured and see your picture up there too.

On the 21st of April is their Easter Weekend food festival. With more food stalls and a set of live music, it promises to be a wonderful night. I’ve got my eye on fish and chips, hot dogs and churros. With it also being the Easter weekend there will be a few extra sweet treats on offer at Kerbside. If the weather is as good as everyone says it will be, I will definitely be going around with an ice cream in hand.
